What the ARRL Doesn't Tell You
The ARRL measures performance of radios with interfering signals outside the passband of the first IF so that the roofing filter gets rid of the interfering signal before it gets to the rest of the receiver. This is great if all your interfering signals are 2kHz (or more) away. But if the interference is closer in, receiver performance suffers substantially.
